Get the Look: Sex and the City Movie Styles

The ladies who taught us how to take a risk or two (simultaneously, of course) are back in one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Sex and the City hits screens on Friday, but our eyes are firmly trained on the all-important clothes that Carrie and company will be rocking with their usual aplomb.

We're all familiar enough with their respective styles, but a transition to the big screen inevitably means everything will be bigger, better and infinitely more luxurious. Translation: They'll wipe out your bank account if you attempt them at home. Fortunately, we're no strangers to good bargains, and there are plenty to be found if your end goal is to look like one of your fashion idols. Whether you're a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda, you'll find a relatively inexpensive and totally chic version of the look here!

Carrie's earned herself more than enough respect to get away with just about anything at all (even SJP's movie premiere feathered hat, while brow-raising, was acceptably appropriate), but here she's more a sip of cool, nonchalant filtered water than a sexy, rosy Cosmo. Sharp white trousers ($20) and a matching vest ($60) aren't as easy to work around as one might think; how to avoid looking like a waiter? Easy: a fitted blouse ($18) underneath, a loose black scarf ($20) and dainty black heels ($39.50) to bring it all freshly together.

We're more excited about seeing the cutest maternity garb ever, thanks to Charlotte's general adorableness, but I'm issuing praise for her sleek white dress, too. She sizzles, not least thanks to her gleaming hair, Chanel bag and patent pumps. Make the look yours with this effortless white sheath ($25), heels ($17.50) and fabulously versatile carryall ($17). Bonus points if you can emulate that luxurious mane.

If you didn't know Alberta Ferretti was to die for before this, you do now. Check out the designer's pale gold dress on Miranda. Against her red locks, it's a striking match, and her figure couldn't look much better. Of course, Ferretti ain't cheap – try this lovely dress ($99) instead for a similar look that won't make your credit card weep. Don't forget the shoes ($34)!

Hot, hot, hot. If only we could all walk around and look this ridiculously sexy every single day. Samantha's sharp red suit, insanely killer heels and Fendi du Jour bag look a million bucks, but you don't have to pay as much to sport a nearly identical look (though you will have to fend for yourself when heads turn and inappropriate catcalls ensue). Grab the suit ($35), heels ($25) and bag ($60) to brighten up a dull day at the office. Of course, these ladies could throw plastic bags on their heads and make it a trend, but we love the way these very believable looks translate from the big screen to real life with a modicum of effort. That probably won't hold true for everything they wear (see Carrie's cringe-inducing gladiator heels), but there's some inspiration to be found here for any red-blooded fashion maven.
