New York Fashion Week kicked off with Australian designer, Michael Angel, presenting his Spring/Summer 2009 line.  A very artful collection.  The fabric was amazingly soft, definitely feminine and the best part was that much of it appeared to have been hand painted with the generous wavy lines and swirls.  The colors ranged from black & white to that with a dizzying array, like a mixed palette gone wild.

It seems that the spring 09 trend will definitely be feminine.  And check out the platform shoes.  This style was all over the runway all week.

Next in the Tent was my man Max.  The SS09 collection for BCBGMAXAZRIA was another soft and beautiful one.  While some didn't care for the draped look, I for one think it's a fabulous addition to the line because it is a much more forgiving fit.

Max started with a few of his neutral color schemes reminiscent of last season, but quickly jazzed it up with bright fuchsia pink, stunning teal blue and other fun colors.  Many of the dresses were a solid color giving the wearer a broad range of choices when it comes to accessorizing.

Day one was also a day for meeting a few celebrities but you'll have to tune in to the Fashion 411 Blog for that scoop, later this week!
